“The new single from Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip is ‘Jimmy Savile Had My Album’. An affectionate and hilarious update of the band classic ‘Jimmy Savile’s Got My Album’ which tells the actual story of what happened the night Mik met Sir Jimmy in an Otley Wine Bar.
Mik and the band have performed at over 1000 gigs in the last 7 years, with audiences ranging from 10 – 1000 people (from tiny venues, in out-of-the-way pubs, to the Glastonbury Festival Avalon Cafe) steadily building their fan base through word-of-mouth and internet excitement (over 2000 Facebook fans) ... the response from the public has been consistently ecstatic - and the promoters satisfied, gobsmacked and happily counting the coffers!!
Mik says ”We’d had a rough gig ... three people turned up. We’d been paid and were walking out feeling ashamed and broken and there he was, standing near the door, looking calm and ‘untelly’ with a glamorous lady friend. On impulse, I went over as he was leaving he held his hand out - “Young man, I’m going to forgive you for being better looking than me”. I gave him our CD.”
